State Staff

State Advisor

Shelly Wehmeyer has served as Missouri HOSA’s State Advisor since the spring of 2016.  She is the Director of Health Science Education at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Mrs. Wehmeyer has been at the Department for a total of nine (9) years working with secondary, adult and postsecondary Health Science programs and instructors from across the state.  HOSA is one of Mrs. Wehmeyer’s strongest passions, as the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) connects the dots between instructors and students, focuses on leadership development in future health professionals, and is committed to enhancing the delivery of quality health care to all people.  Shelly is a Registered Nurse by trade, and is a former Practical Nursing Chair/Instructor.  Mrs. Wehmeyer also serves on the National Competitive Events Management Team through HOSA, Inc. as a Competitive Event Lieutenant in Emergency Preparedness.  She also enjoys spending time with her husband of 23 years, and two daughters, who are ages 16 and 12.  Shelly’s hobbies include singing, playing BUNKO, and exercising.  Mrs. Wehmeyer’s goal for Missouri HOSA is to continually strive to be the best through continued learning!
